The American president, Donald Trump, stated on Wednesday in Davos that the USA will not use force to take over Greenland, but wishes for immediate negotiations.

"I request immediate negotiations to purchase Greenland," said American president Donald Trump.

"People thought I would resort to force. I do not need to resort to force. I do not want to resort to force. I will not resort to force," Trump stated, adding that "we may be unstoppable, but we will not do that.

He referred to Greenland as a "vast, almost uninhabited and undeveloped, uninhabitable" country.

"What matters is strategic national security and international security," Trump added.

The American president also complained that "we offer so much and receive so little in return" in relation to NATO.

Trump emphasized that the USA only receives "deaths, disruptions, and massive amounts of money (offered) to people who do not appreciate what we do" – speaking both about NATO and Europe in general.

Sudden change in stock markets after Trump said he would not use force to take over Greenland

According to Ziarul Financiar, futures contracts on the S&P 500 index recorded an increase after President Donald Trump stated at the World Economic Forum that he would not resort to force to acquire Greenland, thus calming concerns that had shaken the markets and caused a flight from dollar-denominated assets.

We remind that American president Donald Trump began his speech in Davos by criticizing Europe, about which he said that "it is not heading in the right direction," emphasizing "uncontrolled migration." On the other hand, he boasted about the American economy, emphasizing that "the whole world is doing well" in the USA.
