American President Donald Trump is among the 287 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize 2026, according to statements from the secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Kristian Berg Harpviken. Of these, 208 are individuals and 79 organizations.
Harpviken mentioned that the nominations were more varied compared to the previous year, highlighting the relevance of the award in the context of current global conflicts. Trump was nominated by the leaders of Cambodia, Israel, and Pakistan, with the nominations being valid as they were made before the deadline of January 31.
Although nominations remain secret for 50 years, Harpviken refused to confirm whether Trump was actually nominated. Other candidates include Lisa Murkowski and Aaja Chemnitz, recognized for their contributions to the peaceful development of the Arctic region.
The Nobel Peace Prize 2026 will be announced on October 9, and the ceremony will take place on December 10.
