Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel declared that Cuba will oppose an 'indestructible resistance' to threats from American President Donald Trump, who stated that 'will have the honor to take Cuba'.
Diaz-Canel emphasized that any external aggressor will encounter firm determination from Cuba. He accused the United States of using an economic embargo, in place since 1962, to weaken the Cuban economy and justify threats to overturn the constitutional order. The Cuban president denounced the pressure exerted by the U.S., which prevents oil deliveries to Cuba, and highlighted that these actions are part of an economic war against the Cuban people.
Despite the tensions, Cuba confirmed that it is negotiating with the United States, including regarding the release of political prisoners, as part of an agreement mediated by the Vatican.
