A fire destroyed a restaurant in the New Town of Sozopol, Bulgaria.
The fire broke out at the Apollon restaurant on Cherno More Street, near the central beach.
According to the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the fire was allegedly caused by a faulty refrigerator, quickly spreading from the kitchen to the outside, affecting a wooden structure and climbing up the facade of the building. The restaurant was completely destroyed, and some nearby hotel rooms suffered damage.
Due to the dense smoke and flames, authorities decided to evacuate tourists from hotels in the area, with between 20 and 25 people being relocated to safety. Three fire trucks intervened to extinguish the fire and prevent its spread. Singer Nelly Rangelova, a witness to the incident, mentioned that the evacuation began around 5:30 AM, and tourists were not allowed to return to the hotel. Although the fire caused significant damage, no casualties were reported.
