A wave of bomb threats targeted kindergartens, schools, hospitals, courts, and public institutions in Bulgaria, with police having identified no explosive device so far. The alerts were sent by email, and the authorities initiated standard verification and evacuation procedures.
Reports were received in Sofia, Razgrad, Kazanlak, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Dupnitsa, Kyustendil, Lovech, Shumen, Montana, Isperih, Blagoevgrad, and Dobrich. In several localities, employees and visitors were temporarily evacuated while police officers and firefighters searched the buildings.
The courts in Burgas and Haskovo were evacuated. In Burgas, the checks ended without results, and the court resumed its activity. Alerts also targeted hospitals in Isperih, Blagoevgrad, and Dobrich, as well as schools and kindergartens in Dupnitsa and Kyustendil.
In Varna and Plovdiv, the messages also targeted the city hall, the regional administration, the tax agency, and the prosecutors' offices. In Kostinbrod, a threat led to the evacuation of the city hall and the prosecutors' office. The origin of the messages and whether they were genuine have not been established.
