An explosion targeted a commuter train in Quetta, Pakistan, resulting in 29 deaths and 102 injuries, including women and children. The explosion occurred on the railway lines near the Chaman Phatak level crossing, affecting a train that had departed from a military base. The force of the explosion caused the locomotive and three carriages to derail, also destroying nearby vehicles and shattering the windows of buildings.


The Minister of Railways described the attack as a "terrorist act," attributing it to hostile forces from Afghanistan. Although no one has claimed responsibility, a suicide bomber with an explosive-laden vehicle is suspected to be involved. Balochistan, the affected region, is facing a separatist insurgency and increased activity from Islamist groups, complicating the security situation in Pakistan.
