As part of the Arctic Light 2025 exercise, Denmark has decided not to invite American military units, although the American Secretary of Defense was invited. The exercise, which involves over 550 soldiers from Denmark and other NATO countries, underscores Danish control over Greenland and the intensification of defense cooperation amid increased U.S. interest in the region. Denmark has increased defense investments following previous comments by Donald Trump regarding Greenland, and relations with Washington have become strained in this context. The exercise targets scenarios related to the increased activity of Russia and China in the Arctic.
