Mette Frederiksen acknowledged, on behalf of Denmark, the serious errors committed between 1960-1992, when over 4,500 Inuit women were subjected to sterilization without consent. The campaign, aimed at controlling birth rates, left many women with physical and psychological scars. The Prime Minister emphasized that the apologies are also for other historical discriminations against Greenlanders. Nearly 150 victims have filed complaints, and any potential compensation will be discussed after the conclusions of an inquiry commission.
