On December 17, the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) organized a debate with representatives of professional associations of judges and the Ministry of Justice to discuss current issues of the judicial system. CSM will consult judges through an online questionnaire, with a response deadline until December 18, 2025. The agenda includes topics such as the delegation of judges, perceptions of judicial independence, the duration of judicial procedures, the salaries of judges, and freedom of expression. The conclusions of these consultations will be presented by December 19, 2025. In parallel, President Nicușor Dan invited magistrates to a discussion about integrity issues in justice, scheduled for December 22, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation following a recent investigation that highlighted problems in the Romanian judicial system, including the centralization of power and the phenomenon of prescription.
