The European Public Prosecutor's Office has secured the conviction of two individuals and a French company involved in a customs fraud case related to the import of a yacht from the United States.
The vessel, valued at $745,784, was undervalued at customs through false information, causing an estimated damage of over 100,000 euros to the budget of the European Union.
The Paris court sentenced one administrator to six months of suspended prison and a fine of 50,000 euros, while the other administrator received the same fine. The company was fined a total of 40,000 euros. The case, which highlights the cross-border dimension of customs fraud, was coordinated by the European Public Prosecutor's Office and also involved the National Anti-Fraud Office in France.
All defendants are contesting the court's decision, and the European Public Prosecutor's Office emphasizes that they are considered innocent until a final decision is made.
