The floods in India have destroyed approximately 5% of the famous tea plantations in the Darjeeling region.

The torrential rains that triggered landslides and deadly floods in the Darjeeling region of India have also destroyed vast areas of the most important tea plantations, officials said on Tuesday. The deluge has destroyed about five percent of the famous tea gardens in Darjeeling, dealing a heavy blow to a district that has become synonymous with tea leaves.
