Velislava Petrova, head of the Bulgarian diplomacy, had a meeting with the Ukrainian ambassador to Bulgaria, Olesia Ilaşciuk, after a drone entered Bulgarian airspace, near the border with Romania. Preliminary analyses suggest that the drone could be of the Maya type, used by the Ukrainian armed forces. Petrova expressed Bulgaria's concern, emphasizing that any unauthorized intrusion is unacceptable and requested Ukraine to provide information to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Ambassador Ilaşciuk assured that Ukraine did not intentionally direct the drone towards Bulgaria and expressed willingness to cooperate. Bulgaria has maintained contact with Romania and informed the foreign ministers of EU member states about the incident. The drone exploded on Bulgarian territory, without causing casualties or damage, and the Bulgarian authorities decided to strengthen security measures at the border.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to protect national sovereignty and emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts for lasting peace in the region.
