The Bulgarian government announced the receipt of approximately 1.47 billion euros from the European Commission, as part of the third payment request under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The payment was made after Bulgaria successfully met 48 out of the 50 targets and milestones associated with the request. This was submitted on October 1, 2025, with a total value of 1.619 billion euros and includes 22 reforms and 19 investments. The measures target reforms in areas such as research, decarbonization, state-owned enterprise governance, and online medical assistance. This is the second payment received by Bulgaria this year, totaling 1.9 billion euros from the annual allocation. Payments to beneficiaries have increased significantly, and Bulgaria is preparing to submit payment requests four and five next year.
