The collapse of a five-storey apartment block in Karachi's Lyari neighborhood has killed 27 people, according to Pakistani authorities. The accident happened on Friday and clean-up operations were almost completed on Sunday. Although the block had been declared dangerous and evacuation notices had been issued, residents denied receiving them. Building collapses are common in Pakistan due to poor building standards and poor quality materials.
