German beer sales fell sharply in the first half of 2025 to 3.9 billion liters, the lowest level since 1993. The 6.3% year-on-year decline is similar to that seen during the pandemic. Domestic sales fell by 6.1% and external sales by 7.1%. In contrast, non-alcoholic beer increased to 9% market share. The brewers' association says the decline is due to demographic changes and economic difficulties.
