Oktoberfest 2026 became the most attended edition in the festival’s history in Munich, after 7.4 million people attended the event. The figure, announced by the city authorities, exceeds the previous record, set in 2023, by 200,000 visitors, when 7.2 million attendees were recorded.
This year’s edition also brought an increase in beer consumption. Visitors consumed a total of 6.7 million liters, 2.7% more than in 2025, when the reported volume was 6.5 million liters. Oktoberfest Director Christian Scharpf described the result as historic for the festival, locally known as the Wiesn.
Food vendors reported sales increases ranging from 2% to 3%, attributing the growth, among other factors, to demand for roast chicken. The commercial data were provided by operators and do not constitute a separate tally for each product category.
Of the participants at Oktoberfest 2026, 447,000 also visited Oide Wiesn, the area dedicated to recreating the atmosphere of the festival from approximately a century ago. The record-breaking edition confirms the appeal of the combination of Bavarian traditions, culinary offerings and the event’s distinctive entertainment.
