A Turkish fishing boat was attacked in the Black Sea: one dead and four injured

The ship Duru 67 was attacked on Friday, in the waters off the west of Sevastopol, Crimea, according to a statement from the Coast Guard Command. No further details about the attack were provided. Five sailors were injured, and one of them died during transport to Turkey after being rescued by the trawler Burak Kaya. A Coast Guard vessel, with a medical team on board, picked up the victims 115 nautical miles north of the Turkish port of İnebolu. The injured were transported to a hospital in Kastamonu, and the health director mentioned that they suffered from shrapnel wounds.

The attack has not been claimed, and the waters off Ukraine have witnessed numerous attacks on transport ships since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022. The Turkish government has previously condemned drone attacks on ships in the Black Sea, highlighting the risks to navigation and the environment.
