Turkey summoned the Ukrainian ambassador in Ankara following recent attacks on Turkish vessels in the Black Sea, according to a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The attacks occurred on August 26 and 27, when the Turkish ship "Lider Bordo Mavi" was hit near the city of Tuapse, followed by an attack on the ship "Lider Kocatepe," which was sent to tow it. The ministry did not specify if there were any casualties. The damaged ship was towed to the Turkish port of Samsun. Turkey has requested a "moratorium" on attacks targeting commercial vessels in the Black Sea, considering that many Turkish ships operate in the area.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that the conflict has extended to commercial vessels, affecting even ships under the Turkish flag. Ankara maintains relations with Russia and Ukraine, without joining Western sanctions against Moscow.
