The Turkish foreign minister warns that the expansion of the war in the Black Sea and attacks on ships are unacceptable

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Tuesday in Baku that extending the war between Ukraine and Russia across the entire Black Sea region is unacceptable and poses a threat to the safety of Turkish citizens. He also warned about attacks on vessels, saying they undermine navigational security.

Fidan announced that Ankara had intensified its diplomatic efforts to identify a negotiated solution to the war in Ukraine, without providing details about the ongoing initiatives. The statements were made after mediation efforts backed by the United States resumed approximately one week ago. Special envoys of President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, visited Moscow and Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he expects talks between Kyiv, Moscow and Washington to resume and that he is prepared to meet Vladimir Putin in December at the G20 summit in Miami.

At the same conference, Fidan called for an immediate end to hostilities in the Persian Gulf. Turkey supports restoring free passage through the Strait of Hormuz and the situation that existed before the conflict broke out. Ankara maintains contact with all parties involved and is seeking to contribute to finding a peaceful solution.
