Armed attack in northeastern Nigeria: 29 people were killed on a football field in Adamawa state.

A gun attack in Adamawa state in northeastern Nigeria has led to the death of at least 29 people, mostly young people, who had gathered to play or watch a football match. Witnesses reported that the attackers opened fire indiscriminately, causing panic and destruction.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri confirmed the tragic toll and blamed the jihadist group Boko Haram, although Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting that it killed 25 Christians. The attackers rampaged for hours, setting fire to places of worship and destroying property.

On the same day, in Kogi state, security forces rescued 15 children from 23 kidnapped from an orphanage. The governor promised strict measures to restore order.
