On Thursday morning, a shooting occurred at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where a man opened fire in the academic building Constant Hall. Two people were seriously injured and were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, their condition being critical. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.
The campus police, along with local authorities, responded quickly, and the shooter was neutralized. The university confirmed that there is no longer a threat on campus and announced the cancellation of classes for the rest of the day. A student reported that she heard gunfire while she was in an exam room and described panic among her peers. Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger stated that authorities are monitoring the situation. Gun violence in educational institutions remains a major issue in the United States.
