A group of American senators, including Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrat Richard Blumenthal, announced an agreement with the Trump administration to relaunch sanctions against Russia.

The project provides for the imposition of high tariffs on imports from countries that buy oil, uranium, and natural gas from Russia, with possible exceptions for states that support Ukraine's war effort. The senators expressed their satisfaction with the progress made, but the White House has not officially commented.

Lindsey Graham recently met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who emphasized the importance of strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia. Although the project enjoys strong bipartisan support, the Senate Republican majority leader, John Thune, mentioned that the vote will depend on the administration's support.
