CNN reported that American intelligence services have identified plans by China to deliver new air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks, a provocative move considering Beijing's role in negotiating a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the USA.
President Donald Trump is set to visit China for discussions with President Xi Jinping, and information suggests that Iran could take advantage of the truce to replenish its weapon stockpiles with the help of foreign partners. It is estimated that the deliveries include MANPADs (man-portable air defense systems), which could pose a threat to American aircraft.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington has denied the allegations, stating that Beijing has not supplied weapons to any party involved in the conflict and has urged the USA to avoid unfounded accusations. Additionally, Beijing has stated that it has made efforts to contribute to establishing a ceasefire in the Middle Eastern conflict.
