Donald Trump states that he did not discuss the possibility of the US selling weapons to China

The White House said Monday that the United States has no plans to sell weapons to China, following comments by the U.S. ambassador to Beijing, David Perdue, according to which Donald Trump had asked Xi Jinping whether he wanted to buy American weapons.

Following the ambassador's comments on Sunday, the State Department also denied that the U.S. was considering selling weapons to China, telling reporters that “U.S. law prohibits the sale of weapons to China and there is no offer or plan to sell weapons to China.” And a U.S. official added: “The U.S. government has no plans to sell weapons to China.”
