Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, is expected in Islamabad on Friday evening, according to a Pakistani official source. This visit coincides with preparations for a second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran, but it is unclear whether Araghchi will meet with American officials. The Pakistani capital is under heightened security measures, with checkpoints and closed roads in the red zone, to protect a possible negotiation site. Pakistan has become a mediator in the U.S.-Israeli conflict against Iran, but Tehran has refused to send a delegation to the negotiations in Islamabad. American President Donald Trump has stated that he has "all the time in the world" to negotiate peace with Iran, while military pressure remains. The negotiations, which were supposed to resume, are suspended, and the conflict continues to affect energy markets and the global economy.
