On October 20, the Maison des Lumières Denis Diderot museum in Langres, France was the victim of a theft, a day after the robbery at the Louvre. Municipal agents discovered that the entrance door had been forced and a display case with gold and silver coins had been broken.
The thieves acted with precision, stealing only certain coins from a treasure discovered in 2011, which contained nearly 2,000 coins, valued at 90,000 euros. Investigators suspect a planned theft, considering that the incident occurred on the night from Sunday to Monday, while France was still in shock after the robbery at the Louvre. The museum will remain closed until further notice, and the city of Langres has hired a private security company to ensure the protection of the site.
