In Tuvalu, an island nation threatened by climate change, 8,750 people have applied for climate visas to legally move to Australia, representing 82% of the total population of 10,643. The procedure was launched by the Australian government to provide a refuge for those affected by rising sea levels, given that the archipelago has a maximum elevation of just 4.6 meters.
