In the aftermath of the earthquake, hundreds of houses were completely or partially destroyed, and several medical units and access roads were damaged, hindering rescue efforts. Authorities and aid organizations warn that the situation is becoming even more serious with the approach of winter, when temperatures drop in the region. In the most affected areas, there are still unstable buildings, which increases the risk for residents.
