The National Film Registry has added 25 films for preservation, including famous titles such as "Inception," "Clueless," and "Before Sunrise." These films, considered "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant," were made at least 10 years ago and reflect a diversity of genres, from the epic war film "Glory" to the romantic comedy "High Society." The selections also include six films from the silent film era, such as "The Tramp and the Dog" and "The Lady."

Robert R. Newlen, acting librarian of Congress, emphasized the importance of preserving films for the preservation of American culture. The total number of titles in the registry has reached 925, and Turner Classic Movies will air a special on March 19 to showcase some of the new additions. Additionally, Jacqueline Stewart, a film historian, highlighted the thematic diversity of the selected films, including the popularity of the title "The Thing," which was chosen by the public.
