The state of New South Wales has offered $1.31 million in compensation to Kathleen Folbigg, wrongly convicted for two decades for the deaths of her four children. Her lawyer, Rhanee Rego, rejected the amount, calling it a moral insult and inappropriate to her client's suffering. Folbigg was pardoned and acquitted in 2023 after new evidence suggested the children's deaths were caused by natural factors. She spent 20 years in prison and the trauma she suffered continues to impact her life.
