"There are medical institutions that are funded similarly. Some of them provide very high-quality medical services and have a financial surplus and I can give you more examples. There are other institutions where funding has no connection to the quality of medical services. This funding, which for us is for DRG (Diagnostic Related Groups, the classification scheme for patients based on diagnosis - editor's note), on one hand, and for the adjustments related to salary payments, hides the reality of providing real health services.
We can, and I don't want to name, hospitals that do not provide medical services, where the on-call doctors sleep very peacefully and receive salaries higher than, for example, an emergency hospital in Bucharest, because they do nothing but either send patients away and keep only cases that can be treated on an outpatient basis and so on," stated, at the opening of the Profit Health.forum, Prof. Dr. Alexandru Rafila, president of the Health and Family Commission in the Chamber of Deputies.
