MedLife, the leader in private medical services in Romania, has presented the first results of its genomic study, which analyzes over 3,000 genetic tests. These analyses highlighted significant correlations between genetic predispositions and the medical history of patients, demonstrating the potential of genetic testing in preventive medicine. For example, participants with a high genetic risk for type 2 diabetes showed significantly higher blood sugar levels. The study also identified associations between various conditions, such as diabetes and celiac disease, suggesting common immunological mechanisms.
MedLife also aims to integrate genetic data with existing medical information, thus providing an individualized risk profile. The Longevity100+ program will allow patients to receive personalized recommendations for disease prevention, based on genetic analysis and lifestyle. Additionally, MedLife will launch low-pass genetic testing for the general public, marking a premiere in Romania. This initiative will contribute to transforming the Romanian medical system, having the potential to influence public health policies. The preliminary results are promising, but they will be expanded and validated on a larger cohort in the future.
