The 'Victor Babeș' University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara has launched the first master's degree program in Central and Eastern Europe dedicated to the prevention and integrated management of obesity.

The program, coordinated by Prof. Univ. Dr. Bogdan Timar, has a duration of two years and will prepare graduates to become experts in obesity management, offering an integrated and evidence-based scientific approach. The curriculum includes the assessment of patients with obesity, setting therapeutic goals, and integrating nutritional, behavioral, and pharmacological interventions.

Additionally, the program will address the complications associated with obesity and will include a practical component based on the experience of the Integrated Obesity Management Center in Timișoara. Prof. Timar emphasizes the importance of training professionals capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams and integrating the latest evidence into medical practice.

The university's rector, Prof. Octavian Crețu, states that this program meets the current needs of the healthcare system and contributes to the development of quality medical education in Romania.
