A recent study conducted by CES Bucharest, presented at the National Health Conference UndeDoare, reveals that 70% of Romanians choose to self-treat their ailments at home without consulting a doctor. The study, conducted in May, indicates that over 60% of respondents do not fully understand the diagnosis they received, and 76% stop the prescribed treatment before the term. Additionally, 39% take medications without consulting a specialist, while only 12% make an appointment with a doctor as a first reaction. In this context, representatives from the health sector discussed prevention, health education, and rapid access to medical services. The president of CNAS, Horațiu Moldovan, emphasized the need to reform hospital funding and establish a predictable framework for the pharmaceutical market to ensure the sustainability of the healthcare system. State Secretary Florin Zaharia mentioned the increase in the health budget but stressed the importance of efficient resource utilization. Radu Gănescu, president of COPAC, highlighted that prevention and early diagnosis must become priorities in the healthcare system.
