Inflation, ANPC controls, as well as ANAF-related announcements and speculation about tax changes were among the most discussed topics in articles and posts related to the economy in the last month, data processed by the media intelligence platform NewsVibe from relevant online sources shows.
There were 28,800 articles and posts on the economy in the sources tracked, more than those on education (17,800), but fewer compared to the number of articles and posts on gossip and entertainment (39,100).
There were two moments with high accumulation of mentions on economy-related topics. The first of these was recorded on July 30, when several comments and speculations about potential tax changes appeared in the online space, as well as the ANPC control that targeted commercial agents in the Otopeni airport. The second was on August 12, when there was much discussion about the new INS data on the annual inflation rate and the consumer price index, but also the announcements from the governmental area on the intention to modify the Single Declaration were also covered.

The website Ziarul Financiar stood out among the sources that produced the most content on economics, with no other publication surpassing the 1,000 articles threshold. The economic platform Profit.ro and the generalist publication stiripesurse.ro follow in the ranking. The top three rankings are similar to those recorded in the previous month. The first Facebook page in the top three also belongs to ZF.

The media impact of the inflation report can also be seen by analyzing the terms frequently used in the latter part of the analyzed interval, where the name of the issuing institution - INS - occupies an important place. There was also a lot of talk, especially in the last few days, about Germany and Germans, especially with reference to the outlook for the German economy, but also to one-off events, such as Porsche's takeover of Varta. Also on an accelerating trend is the visibility of Minister Marcel Boloș, as well as the volume of online conversation about consumers.

Among the most used emoji during the analyzed period, various illustrations of economic topics stand out, such as graphs, but also symbols suggesting articles about the real estate market or the automotive industry. In terms of hashtags, the emphasis on #anaf stood out - particularly in the latter part of the analyzed interval - reflecting various recent communications related to this institution.

Relevant local sources outside the capital that wrote about the economy were mostly concentrated in the counties of Constanța and Cluj, but also Iași or Brașov.
