The online agenda was dominated by developments in industry, social and political tensions, and news from the economy and business sectors. An assessment conducted through the NewsVibe platform, which integrates artificial intelligence technologies for analyzing content from the mass media and social networks, indicated the publication of 25,623 materials with an economic profile during this period, on relevant web sources, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok channels in Romania. The processed data revealed ten entities that benefited from an intensified presence in the digital environment, analyzing both the factors underlying this growth and the contribution of online channels to the dissemination and consolidation of the messages. The ranking of trending topics is based on new trends that emerged over the past week.

Rheinmetall and Mangalia Shipyard, a strategic acquisition with economic and political implications: The acquisition of Mangalia Shipyard by Rheinmetall Real Estate România SRL, part of the German giant Rheinmetall, for the sum of 138 million euros, was one of the most discussed economic topics of the week. The transaction, which took place after several failed attempts to sell the shipyard, is considered strategic by the Romanian Government, with the potential to revive the national defense and naval industries. However, controversies have also emerged, including a live on-air scandal between Victor Ponta and Radu Miruță, as well as accusations regarding the sale price. It is important to note that, although the transaction has been completed, approvals from the Competition Council and the Direct Foreign Investment Examination Commission (CEID) are still mandatory for the takeover to be fully validated.Protests and Dissatisfaction at IAR Ghimbav: Employees of IAR Ghimbav organized significant protests, expressing their dissatisfaction with the blocking of salary indexation in line with inflation and the substantial increase in the allowances of the members of the Board of Directors, which quadrupled. Another point of tension concerns the lack of orders for the Romanian helicopter factory, while Romania is purchasing helicopters from France.2026 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences: American economists Robert E. Hall and Michael Woodford were awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for the “microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic stabilization.” Their research made a significant contribution to the development of models used by central banks and governments to manage economic shocks and crises, such as those caused by the oil crises of the 1970s. Their findings are considered essential for improving effective stabilization policies at the global level.Technical Problems at Mega Image and the Cyberattack on Ahold Delhaize: The Mega Image supermarket chain faced technical problems that affected online orders, personalized offers, and discounts through Card Connect. These difficulties arose a few days after the Dutch-Belgian group Ahold Delhaize, the owner of Mega Image and Profi, announced that it had been targeted by a cybersecurity incident in its United States network, which led to the temporary shutdown of certain IT systems.Firewood Prices and Romsilva: National Forest Administration – Romsilva announced that it would make approximately 2 million cubic meters of firewood available to the population in 2026, at prices similar to those of the previous year. Prices for one cubic meter of firewood start at 200 lei and vary depending on the species and assortment. This initiative aims to ensure the fuel needed to heat homes during the cold season.Iulian Stanciu and the Investment in NIBIRU Real Estate: Iulian Stanciu, co-founder of eMAG and one of Romania’s wealthiest people, became a shareholder in NIBIRU Real Estate, the company developing a new entertainment and leisure project in Costinești alongside Selly. This decision comes after Stanciu sold his shares in eMAG and marks a new investment direction for his company, Inspire Asset Management. The Deloitte Property Index 2026 Study and the Real Estate Market: According to the Deloitte Property Index 2026 study, Romania ranks fourth in Europe among the countries with the cheapest homes, with an average price of 1,917 euros per square meter in 2025. Nevertheless, prices recorded a significant increase of 14.4% in 2025, the largest increase among the European countries analyzed. In cities such as Cluj-Napoca, prices exceed 3,000 euros per square meter.
