Typhoon Kalmaegi struck the coastal regions of Vietnam, causing the death of at least five people and damaging approximately 2,800 homes. The storm brought strong winds and heavy rains, with precipitation of up to 200 millimeters, leading to rising river levels and risks of flooding and landslides. In the Philippines, the typhoon had a devastating impact, with 188 deaths and 135 missing persons. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will visit the affected areas to assess the damage. In Vietnam, 1.3 million people were left without electricity, and the government mobilized over 268,000 soldiers for search and rescue operations. Typhoon Kalmaegi is the thirteenth of this season, and regulatory agencies in the Philippines are preparing for another typhoon, Fung-wong, which is expected to intensify.
