The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in the United States has warned that tropical storm Melissa could become a major hurricane by Sunday, particularly affecting Haiti and Jamaica. On Friday morning, the storm was located 260 kilometers southeast of Kingston and 445 kilometers southwest of Port-au-Prince. Melissa, the 13th tropical storm of the season, is slowly moving northeast, bringing heavy rainfall that could cause catastrophic flooding and landslides.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning for Romanian citizens in Jamaica, advising them to follow the instructions of local authorities and to monitor official information sources. Additionally, Romanians in the affected areas can contact the Romanian Embassy in Havana for assistance.
