Representatives of the National Environmental Guard (GNM) announced a testing action of the mobile X-ray scanner, conducted near the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point. The action involved checking heavy transport vehicles and utility vehicles, with measurements to determine radiation levels, carried out with the support of the Public Health Directorate. This activity was part of a simulation for the complex controls that will begin next year, aimed at strengthening the control capacity of the GNM.
The scanner is part of the equipment purchased through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, aimed at combating illegal waste imports. The GNM will also use portable XRF spectrometers for rapid material analysis. Through these initiatives, the National Environmental Guard is also enhancing its capacity to check suspicious goods at the border, contributing to environmental protection.
