The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) has issued a yellow flood warning, valid from May 8, 14:00 to May 9, 12:00, due to forecasted precipitation and the melting of snowpack in high mountainous areas. The affected counties include Botoșani, Iași, Neamț, Vaslui, Vrancea, and Buzău. In a second interval, from May 9, 03:00 to May 9, 12:00, rivers in the counties of Gorj, Sibiu, Vâlcea, Dolj, Argeș, Olt, and Teleorman will be affected.
The targeted phenomena include significant runoff on slopes, torrents, and streams, rapid floods on small rivers, with risks of local flooding and increases in flow rates and levels, with the possibility of exceeding alert thresholds. Specialists recommend avoiding travel near rivers and flood-prone areas. Additionally, meteorologists announce heightened atmospheric instability, with significant precipitation, wind, and electrical discharges, until Sunday morning.
