In France, Spain, Germany, and Belgium, heatwave alerts have been issued, and authorities have taken measures to protect the population. French meteorologists have announced that nearly half of the population of the Hexagon is affected, and Paris is preparing for a possible red alert. Young people in Paris have resorted to risky gestures to cool off, jumping from a walkway into the Saint-Martin Canal, prompting police interventions. 60 departments in France are under orange alert, and the government has activated a crisis center. In Germany, the heatwave has affected three states, and locals are seeking the coolness of public pools. Belgium has also issued an orange alert, and companies have implemented special measures for employees working in extreme conditions. In Spain, the south of the island of Mallorca is facing temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius, and in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and Portugal, the weather is extremely hot.
