Environmental activists in Italy are opposing the felling of a centuries-old Christmas tree in the Vatican.

<p>Nicknamed the 'Green Giant', the 29-meter-tall tree is to be cut down in a forest in the Ledro valley, despite opposition from activists. They have sent an open letter to Pope Francis, signed by more than 40,000 people, calling for the felling to stop.
