A total of 118,198 Romanian citizens from the Diaspora have already cast their vote on Friday in the first round of the presidential elections, compared to only 44,610 who did so in the first round of the 2024 presidential elections, held from November 22-24.

For the Diaspora, voting will take place over three days, and the MAE has organized 965 polling stations for Romanian citizens abroad, compared to 951 polling stations as were available in 2024. At the same time, we recall that the results of the first round of the 2024 presidential elections were annulled by the CCR and that the May 2025 elections are a re-run.

The top three countries where Romanians in the Diaspora voted are, in descending order, the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany. The gender distribution is relatively even, with about 52% men and 48% women.
