On Sunday evening, hundreds of supporters of the independent Nicușor Dan gathered in the center of the capital, after exit polls showed a clear victory for him in the presidential elections, with a lead of 8-9 percent over George Simion (AUR). Traffic on Queen Elisabeta Boulevard was blocked, and participants waved Romanian and European Union flags, celebrating and chanting Dan's name. According to partial results, he had a lead of almost 400,000 votes.
