Daniel Funeriu, on Nicușor Dan's desire to negotiate with Antonescu and Lasconi: "Nicușor Dan's proposal seems to me to be an offense to Romanians, because this kind of proposal which, in fact, means 'let's make some hidden agreements'."

Funeriu says such hidden deals undermine voter confidence and suggests Romanians should decide for themselves. Nicușor Dan, on the other hand, said he might withdraw from the race if polls indicate a final between Victor Ponta and George Simion, suggesting talks between the pro-European candidates to avoid an unwanted second round. Presidential elections are scheduled for May.
