In the meeting on December 5, the National Council for the Study of Securitate Archives (CNSAS) evaluated the candidates for the local elections on December 7, including those aspiring to the position of mayor of the Capital. CNSAS announced that, among all the candidates, only Gigi Nețoiu, the independent candidate, had connections with the Securitate.

Recent information obtained by CNSAS indicates that Nețoiu was a member of the Securitate of Bucharest Municipality from 1985 to 1989, a detail he himself confirmed in an interview. Gigi Nețoiu, known as a former player for several football teams, was convicted in 2014 in the Transfer Files, but was conditionally released in 2015.
