Constitutional Court judge Bogdan Licu confirmed, in a statement to IndependentNews, that he was part of the Security Troops during the December 1989 Revolution. He said he was assigned to UM 0530 Roșu-București and that, from January 1989 to January 1990, he was assigned to guard the State Council in the area of the Royal Palace in Bucharest.

Licu says he served as a medic, having graduated from a medical high school, and that he was not issued a weapon and did not leave the guardhouse during the events. According to his account, he went outside for the first time at dawn on December 23, when he was asked to provide first aid to soldiers and civilians wounded in the exchanges of fire that began on the night of December 22–23.

He also said that he was not part of the same unit as Lucian Pahonțu and that Pahonțu did not support him in his career. The statements come amid investigations into the past of the SPP chief and his role in the events of 1989 and 1990.»عدد
