The Ministry of Education has announced that 28 high schools, both public and private, from 15 counties and the Municipality of Bucharest, have enrolled to pilot alternative framework plans starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The final list of pilot units will be approved by Ministerial Order by March 15, 2026. The purpose of the program is to test new curricular models and decentralized management mechanisms, with annual evaluation over a minimum duration of 5 years. Among the participating high schools is the "Gheorghe Lazăr" National College in Bucharest, which will implement a specialization starting from the 11th grade.
The program offers flexibility and curricular autonomy, allowing educational units to develop educational offers tailored to local needs. The evaluation of the projects will include an analysis of their legality, relevance, and sustainability. In parallel, the Ministry of Education will continue to develop a standard framework plan, based on extensive consultations, which will come into effect for 9th-grade students in the fall.
