The school year 2026 – 2027 starts on September 7, 2026, and ends on June 18, 2027, according to the draft regarding the structure of the school year 2026-2027, put out for public consultation by the Ministry of Education and Research. A significant change, compared to the structure of previous school years, aims to reduce the interval during which the vacation can be decided by the school inspectorates from three to two weeks.

Students will be on vacation during the intervals October 24, 2026 - November 1, 2026; December 23, 2026 - January 10, 2027; one week, at the decision of the county/city school inspectorates, during the period February 22 - March 7, 2027; April 24, 2027 - May 4, 2027; June 19, 2027 - September 5, 2027. The project takes into account the organization of national exams, including the National Assessment and the Baccalaureate, in the last weeks of classes.

The detailed structure includes periods of classes and vacations, and the national program "School otherwise" will take place during intervals established by the educational institutions. The final form of the structure will be approved after analyzing the feedback received.
