Romania won four medals at the International Geography Olympiad in 2026, held in Istanbul.

Romania had a remarkable performance at the 2026 edition of the International Geography Olympiad, held from August 11 to 17 in Istanbul, Turkey, where it won four medals. The competition brought together students from 50 countries, and the Romanian team won two silver medals, through Mihai Macsim from the "C. Negruzzi" National College in Iași and Maria Moldovan from the "Silvania" National College in Zalău. Additionally, bronze medals were won by David Gărăiman from the "Mihai Viteazul" National College in Bucharest and Cristina-Daria Toderici from the "Adam Muller Guttenbrunn" Theoretical High School in Arad. The Olympic team was coordinated by teachers Mihaela Cornelia Fiscutean and Dorin Fiscutean.

The Ministry of Education and Research congratulated the students and teachers for their achievements, highlighting the support provided in preparation for the competition, including covering participation and travel costs.
